The Kings of Pleasure, local retro swing favorites announce the release of a new CD, Kings of Pleasure Live! recorded in June of 1996 at the Shelter Cocktail Lounge during the band’s heyday. Their reunion-CD release show at Hotel Congress on October 4th promises to deliver a high-energy rave up featuring original members Mike Hebert and singer/ drummer Paul Elia. New to the band will be sax player Alex Flores and bassist Koko Matsumoto. The CD will be available starting October 4th at bandcamp.com/kingsofpleasure
Mike Hebert founded Kings of Pleasure, a retro swing, blues and jazz band in the mid 90’s who went on to tour nationally producing 3 CD releases which sold a total of 70,000 units worldwide. Hebert is a member of the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame and the Texas Music Heritage Hall of Fame. Kings of Pleasure has headlined the Phoenix Jazz festival twice in and the group has also performed at the Newport Beach Jazz Festival and the San Francisco Jazz Fest. The Kings have appeared in concert with Linda Ronstadt, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Harry Connick Jr. and many others in their 20 year career. Often sitting in is singer Sara Gascho, a former member of Tucson-based Combo Westside and also the music teacher at Sam Hughes school in Tucson.
