Kiko Jácome and his Band

Friday, March 27, 2020 @ 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM

$5

For longtime Tucsonans, the Jácome name may well bring up memories of one of Tucson’s oldest and most established families. Think about the old Jácome Department Store or downtown’s Jácome Plaza, the site of Pima County’s Main Public Library. And while Kiko Jácome is extremely proud of that side of his family tree, he is also a Ronstadt, nephew to the late Michael J. and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Linda, and is one of many Ronstadt cousins firmly embedded in what some family members like to refer to as the “family business.”

While he may not benefit from the name recognition so many of his cousins enjoy, Kiko is indeed making a musical name for himself in his own right. A consummate triple threat, his ever evolving skills as a singer, guitarist and songwriter are all on prominent display. This night Kiko brings a new band with a new more groove oriented rock sound. His new players bring a whole lot of new energy.

Kiko brings a collection of exquisite tunes delving into almost every heartfelt emotion imaginable. Longing, desire, betrayal, joy, disgust, and in some cases, a profound sense of loss—it’s all there, his emotions laid bare for all to see and experience through song.  In the 18 months since his last release, Almost Gone, Jacome has reconfigured the band and its approach to these and other new tunes just enough to allow his live presentation to be a bit more groove oriented and with a bit more of an edge as he’s finding people like dancing to many of these songs. At the same time, Jacome’s way with a big ballad also provides some of the band’s finest and most powerful moments on stage.

An evening with Kiko and the Stone Ave. Band will not only show off a tremendous depth and range of material but will also leave audiences with the sense that each and every song is its own little gemstone with something special and significant to offer. Sometimes he refers to his music as an amalgam of “Homegrown” rock, blues and desert soul. Whatever you want to call it, it’s just good, really good.

Kiko Jacome – Guitar and vocals
Ernie Mendoza – Drums
Dave Burdick – Bass
