John Coinman is an award-winning singer-songwriter from New Mexico who has called Tucson home for the last 25 years. He has an enviable musical pedigree; he has released five highly praised albums, had numerous songs in major films and on television, and was the Music Supervisor on the Academy Award Winning film, Dances with Wolves. Coinman currently also a current member of the band, Kevin Costner & Modern West.
On October 26th John Coinman releases his sixth CD, Under the Sun, which is a collection of personal stories of the world. His musical themes include connecting with the past, belief in love in spite of hopelessness, losing friends but not friendships, homesickness, laughing in darkness, his love of Tucson and the desert, and his kinship for all peoples, past and present. The CD was recorded in Tucson at Duncan Stitt’s Writer’s Room Studio. Coinman’s long-time partner Blair Forward co-produced, and Tony Gilkyson mixed the album with Alfonso Rodenas, a four-time Grammy award winning engineer and composer.
