Chris Brashear and Peter McLaughlin CD Release: Desert Heart Mountain Soul

Tuesday, May 25, 2021 @ 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

$12 – $15

Chris Brashear and Peter McLaughlin represent more than two decades of musical collaboration and performance. Their music is built on a deep respect for traditional music, from blues to bluegrass, mountain ballads, cowboy songs and just about anything under the current “Americana” category.  Chris is a versatile multi-instrumentalist; Peter is a National Flatpicking Guitar Champion.

With their latest release, Desert Heart, Mountain Soul, themes of love, tragedy and hope are carried forward combining old favorites like Woody Guthrie’s “Pastures of Plenty” with new songs like the title track “Desert Heart, Mountain Soul,” co-written with songwriter Mark “Brink” Brinkman. McLaughlin’s playful “Footprints in a Song,” Brashear’s haunting “21 on the Border,” and Kate Wolf’s epic “Across the Great Divide” characterize the taste, breadth and originality of material that fans of Chris and Peter have come to expect. Mostly conceived and recorded during the pandemic year of 2020, a year characterized by unprecedented social and physical separation, Chris Brashear and Peter McLaughlin create music that entwines a sensual landscape with all the feelings of the human heart.
