Sophia Rankin and Tom Carpenter open the show
Rankin began songwriting at a young age, but only performed her original music upon entering high school. Her music style is Americana blend of folk, blue grass, and pop. Her song“Goodbye” won first place at the Tucson Desert Songwriters Festival in 2017, and — along with her song, “Before I Get To One” — also secured her the first-place award at the Stefan George Songwriting Competition in 2018. She was featured on KXCI’s radio station as an emerging artist in folk and popular music as well as The Daily Wildcat’s article, “Unplugged and Raw: A concert by students, for students.” She is currently working on the release of her second album as well as future performances with TKMA, the University of Arizona, and other events around Tucson.
